Blockchain-based offline payment system
This project proposes a system capable of receiving blockchain-based payments that does not require the receiving system to be connected to a data network to process the transaction, even though maintaining the same level of security and control of systems with continuous network connection.
It allows the development of digital currency working offline, resilient payment systems when unable to accede to data networks, or its intermittence, while exploring new applications that can be developed based on concepts of electronic currency and blockchain.

Rui Sousa, the creator of the patent, studied Information Technology at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of Universidade de Coimbra.

Movtz, Lda. Is a startup from Coimbra incubated at the Instituto Pedro Nunes. He developed original and creative smart payment solutions and electric vehicle charging systems for EDP Comercial, worked on a project with EFACEC and was part of the Vodafone Power Lab.
