Este material, de baixo custo, amigo do ambiente, inerte e abundante na Terra, est\u00e1 presente no nosso dia-a-dia, pois muitas das superf\u00edcies e itens com pigmenta\u00e7\u00e3o branca cont\u00eam este composto. A maior vantagem das estruturas propostas est\u00e1 relacionada com o facto de serem part\u00edculas \u00e0 nanoescala, compostas por um material de elevado \u00edndice de refra\u00e7\u00e3o, o que permite uma forte intera\u00e7\u00e3o com a luz a frequ\u00eancias de resson\u00e2ncia sintoniz\u00e1veis na gama do UV-vis\u00edvel. Prop\u00f5e-se a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de uma tinta OVI inovadora, de baixo custo e facilmente escal\u00e1vel, que poder\u00e1 ser usada, por exemplo, na impress\u00e3o de documentos e selos de seguran\u00e7a, apresentando a possibilidade \u00fanica de varia\u00e7\u00e3o \u00f3tica vis\u00edvel ou invis\u00edvel ao olho humano. Esta ideia pretende desenvolver um framework, baseado em intelig\u00eancia artificial, para gravar, extrair e fundir tr\u00eas tipos de informa\u00e7\u00e3o biom\u00e9trica ocular, aplicado \u00e0 autentica\u00e7\u00e3o de pessoas. As informa\u00e7\u00f5es biom\u00e9tricas a usar s\u00e3o o padr\u00e3o da \u00edris, a estrutura da retina com padr\u00f5es estoc\u00e1sticos gerados pelos vasos sangu\u00edneos e o reflexo luminoso pupilar (relacionado com a contra\u00e7\u00e3o da pupila). Esta solu\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 a primeira solu\u00e7\u00e3o conhecida que integra estas tr\u00eas vari\u00e1veis biom\u00e9tricas. A solu\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e1 baseada em smartphones que ser\u00e3o acoplados a um dispositivo externo, j\u00e1 desenvolvido pela equipa do projeto, e que se mostrou capaz de adquirir imagens est\u00e1veis do olho humano, necess\u00e1rias para a correta autentica\u00e7\u00e3o de pessoas.<\/p>\n

The Outstanding Light Interaction of High-index Dielectric Nanoparticles: A Market-attractive Path for Photonic Authentication<\/h5>\n

This idea proposes the creation of an unprecedented optically variable paint (OVI) based on nanostructures of titanium oxide. This inexpensive, environment friendly, inert and abundant material on Earth is present in our day-to-day life, because many of the surfaces and white pigmented items contain this compound<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The major advantage of the proposed structures has to do with the fact that they are nanoscale particles, composed of a high refractive index material, which allows strong interaction with light at tunable resonance frequencies in the UV-visible range.<\/p>\n

It is proposed to create an innovative, low-cost and easily scalable OVI ink, which can be used, for example, when printing security documents and seals, providing the unique possibility of optical variation visible or invisible to the human eye. This technology is expected to be rapidly marketable on the anti-counterfeiting market which is growing globally at an annual rate of 20%.<\/p>\n

This idea proposes the development of a blockchain-based platform that allows fostering trust in basic applications in Artificial Intelligence through its certification. <\/strong><\/p>\n

To date, the use of this type of \u201csmart\u201d models in critical areas (such as self-driving, computer-assisted diagnosis, and other emerging technologies) has implications that hinder its adoption. Therefore, the proposed platform is based on the creation of a solid framework, currently lacking or non-existent, which allows model predictions to be interpretable, traceable, and auditable.<\/p>\n

Blockchain-based offline payment system<\/h5>\n

This project proposes a system capable of receiving blockchain-based payments that does not require the receiving system to be connected to a data network to process the transaction, even though maintaining the same level of security and control of systems with continuous network connection. It allows the development of digital payments working offline, resilient payment systems when unable to accede to data networks, or its intermittence, while exploring new applications that can be developed based on concepts of electronic payments and blockchain.<\/p>\n

Multimodal Ocular Biometric Authentication<\/h5>\n

This idea aims to develop a framework, based on artificial intelligence, in order to record, extract and merge three types of ocular biometric information, as applied to the authentication of people.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The biometric information to be used is the iris pattern, the retina structure with stochastic patterns generated by blood vessels and the pupillary luminous reflex (related to pupil contraction). This approach is the first known solution that integrates these three biometric variables.<\/p>\n

The method is based on smartphones that will be coupled to an external device, already developed by the project team, and that proved capable of acquiring stable images of the human eye, necessary for the correct authentication of persons.<\/p>\n
